This is a copy of a letter received at my residence (not the track address) on Tuesday afternoon following a great racing weekend.

Wow! Saturday night August 16th, 2003 at Chaparral.  All drivers and fans came out to SUPPORT Chaparral due to the politics at Meridian.  We all found there is Politics at Chaparral too. This was a big suprise and disappointment.

If Mr. Scott Davis wanted to race at Chaparral Saturday he should have been there from the beginning of the day like ALL the rest of the Drivers and fans, after all HE chose to race at Meridian.

Why was favoritism shown for one driver that messed up all the other drivers' line, ect? This is a question we would like answered on the web site.

There was no favoritism shown to any drivers. only a little customer service. It is a service everyone is entitled to once in a while. In fact it is the same service was provided to the Street Stock guys a few weeks earlier when Meridian ran their race early so they had ample time to get out to Chaparral and start scratch in the Main. Chaparral has from the very beginning been if full support of those drivers that want to run at both tracks. That does not mean that we don't appreciate the support the non two track drivers give. That is why ther is a rule for situations like this one in both rule books and the WIRA rule book. It is the SCRATCH position. Start in the back with no passing points if you miss qualifying. Also you stated that I showed political favoritism to this driver and I say I did just the opposite. Most who know Mr. Davis, know that he at times is not the easiest driver to get along with. I too have had my run ins with Spanky. I by not showing favoritism and not being political, only fair, have just been put in the SPIN ZONE! You also stated that I messed up the line-ups of the other drivers in some way. For your information the Itenerary was posted at 3:30, 1/2 hour before the first hotlap session. The night was run just like I posted that it would be, and if I had deceided to change it after that, which I did not and neither did the cheif steward, it would have been OK due to the fact that it is our job to give the best show possible to the fans. The only story better that having spanky start scratch and go to the front after running at Meridian Speedway an hour before, would be if Quinten and Jack Ward would have done the same thing. THAT WOULD HAVE MADE THE STATESMAN!

Sorry you feel cheated and hope you can see my side,
ADAM
